Woori America Bank was originally formed under the name of Korea Commercial Bank of New York as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Commercial Bank of Korea in 1984 under laws of New York State. In the year of 1999, the Bank changed its name from Korea Commercial Bank of New York to Hanvit America Bank due to the new banking entity created through merger of CBK and Hanil Bank with the largest amount in capital and assets among Korean domestic banks. Again in August 2002, the bank changed its name to Woori America Bank due to the birth of our financial holding company "Woori Financial Group" in Korea.
