History

Roma Bank was founded on September 20, 1920, in Trenton, New Jersey, as The Roma Building and Loan Association. Its founders were public-spirited citizens of Italian ancestry responding to the need to help their fellow Italian immigrants become deeply rooted in their communities through home ownership and sound thrift and savings habits. In those pre-federal deposit insurance days, Roma Bank's customers trusted the bank's founders and knew their money was safe with Roma.

The names on Roma's original incorporation document, signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of Joseph J. Felcone, are: Vito Alvino, Giovanni Natale, Joe S. Fradusco, Antonio Damiano, Anthony Selvaggi, Daniel Sisti, Frank E. Dileo, Domenico Russo, Daniel A. Spair, Frank Russo, Michael Commini, Samuel Sica, James R. Marolda, and Vincent Caputi.

Since that humble beginning in a small Trenton office, with approximately $21,000 in assets, Roma Bank has grown to fourteen full-service offices spanning Mercer, Burlington and Ocean Counties -- with a global reach via its internet banking web site: romabank.com.

It is currently led by Maurice T. Perilli, its long-time chairman of the board, and Senator Peter A. Inverso, its president and CEO. Its board of directors includes Simon H. Belli, Louis A. Natale, Jr., Michele Siekerka, Robert H. Rosen, Alfred DeBlasio, Jr., Robert C. Albanese, and Rudolph A. Palombi (Director Emeritus).

As Roma Bank has continued to emerge, it has consistently earned the very highest ranking from Bauer Financial and other rating companies. The bank's "capital ratio" is four and a half times what federal regulators require.

The mission of Roma Bank is to provide superior financial services in a personal and professional manner to its customers and communities. And, it is very evident that Roma Bank is still all about building things. It's about helping families build and buy their homes. It's about helping entrepreneurs establish and build their businesses. And it's about building community relationships.

On September 20, 2005, on its 85th anniversary, Roma Bank opened the doors to its stunning new corporate headquarters at 2300 Route 33 in Robbinsville, New Jersey. This tastefully designed, 47,000-square foot facility allows the bank to bring all of its management resources under a single roof for the first time in its history.

What are the qualities that have maintained Roma Bank's stellar record? STRENGTH. LOYALTY. WISDOM. VISION. These four pillars have, and will continue to be, the foundation on which every decision the bank makes rests.
